ESGAD OneReport.png

Using ESG Ratings and Disclosure to your Advantage, co-hosted by Janice Warren, President of OneReport, Inc. and Cynthia Figge, CEO of CSRHub.

Wed, Oct 4, 2017 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM EDT

Register for the webinar here.

During this lively and informative session, we will discuss Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors that are recognized as relevant for assessing corporate performance, risk, and value, in addition to the societal and environmental impacts themselves. Yet, investor relations and corporate responsibility practitioners often have a love/hate relationship with the corporate responsibility (CR) and ESG or sustainable and responsible investments (SRI) raters and frameworks that have helped identify and shape these metrics. This webinar helps untangle the what, the why, and the “how-tos” of tackling ratings and disclosure.

In this webinar, we will focus on 2017 challenges and opportunities including:

  • ESG landscape shift and the new business case
  • Materiality – Identifying and tracking the metrics that matter most
  • Internal stakeholders and process: challenges and opportunities
  • Navigating the road ahead: ESG ratings and reporting pitfalls, perception, and performance

Who should attend:

  • Those involved in developing or managing a corporate or ESG strategy
  • Corporate Responsibility (CR) and sustainability practitioners
  • Investor relations
  • Corporate communications, corporate affairs, and public affairs
  • Leads for ESG disclosure, reporting, and framework/ratings response management

Register for the webinar here.

Sustainable Brands ’17 Detroit- New Metrics

[fa icon="calendar'] May 18, 2017 8:00:00 AM / by Cynthia Figge

I will be attending the Sustainable Brands conference held in Detroit, MI from May 22nd until May 25th. Since speaking at SB’s inaugural conference in New Orleans in 2007, I have found that what unites the SB community is the gift of seeing ahead and bringing that vision back to our work, clients, and colleagues. While societal actions are shifting to integrate sustainability with business value creation, the pace of change in the next 10 years will be far more rapid than in the previous decade.

This conference strives to unite brand leaders in Detroit for a collective conversation about how businesses can drive positive impact through sustainability-led innovation, with the backdrop of changing societal needs. As Sustainable Brands provides new insights, research data, tools and stories, CSRHub will continue to improve our metrics and tools for measuring our CSR/ESG progress.

Following my time at the SB conference, I will be posting my findings on the New Metrics Tracking sessions I attended.

If you are planning on attending the SB conference in Detroit, please reach out as I would love to meet with you!

Best wishes,

Cynthia

CSRHub shares more Rays of Hope - reach 500 sources

[fa icon="calendar'] Feb 17, 2017 11:01:42 AM / by Cynthia Figge

We enter the New Year with some Rays of Hope for the world and at CSRHub.  After nine years of pioneering work, we have just ingested our 500th data source and track the perceived sustainability performance of almost 17,000 companies worldwide. We now aggregate 13 expert ESG investor research databases, and a vast array of NGO and rich data sources providing a strong signal on how companies are perceived by financial analysts and other stakeholders.

During 2017, we plan to continue expanding both the range of sources we ingest500 sources v2.jpg (we have >100 new sources in our pipeline) and the number of companies we track (we have data on another 140,000 companies).

We are adding 3 million data elements per month to our 100 million analyzed data elements. If you haven’t visited our new company page new design lately, please see the Wal-mart company page sample or request a demo to get a glimpse of how big data and benchmark tools can increase your CSR / ESG business intelligence.

This year we will continue working on our goal to make a public, affordable, and standardized measure of company ESG performance that empowers our users to improve corporate social performance.

Thank you for the work you do and for being members of our community.

Best regards,

Cynthia Figge

Co-founder and COO, CSRHub

Second Generation of CSR/ESG Metrics & Bringing ‘Dark Data’ to Light

[fa icon="calendar'] Jan 25, 2017 10:06:35 AM / by Cynthia Figge

We are seeing a rising wave of change as we transition from our current metrics systems to a second generation.

Since cofounding EKOS 20 years ago, I have worked with great companies including Alaska Airlines, Boeing, Coca Cola and REI on helping to develop their first and early Sustainability Reports. The first generation of sustainability metrics was provided mostly by voluntary self-reported data designed primarily for Wall Street Socially Responsible Investors, employees and stakeholders. Now, a second generation of more rigorously defined metrics is being developed by both government-related and non-governmental organizations.

How can we transition our companies towards a disclosure landscape that is less confusing, more consistent, and more empowering?

How can we greatly expand the coverage of companies that disclose?

New CDP Product-Level Supply Chain Data: Analysis and Recommendations Panel will cover:

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) has partnered with CoClear to analyze its product life cycle data from CDP’s Supply Chain Climate Change Information Request. Over 1,500 companies from 30 countries, representing 10 industry sectors, responded to the CDP questionnaire in 2013, 2014 & 2015. These companies provided life cycle emissions data on more than 300 products. Prior efforts to understand industry emissions often relied on “top-down” methods of analysis, examining high level, aggregate emissions data. With top-down analyses, it is often difficult to pinpoint with particularity the causes of carbon emissions – and which products and brands in a company’s portfolio offer the most potential for efficiency improvements. This analysis, on the other hand, identifies which life cycle stage cause highest emissions in each industry and how sectors track and manage these hotspots over time. The goal is to help industries identify efficiency improvements throughout their value chain.
